Dying matters week

Dying Matters week is an annual awareness campaign to raise awareness of the importance of talking about death and dying

Dying matters week is from 14th to 20th May 2018

This Dying Matters Week we will be asking "What Can You Do... in your community?"

The Northwest Children's Palliative Care Network is working with Parent Voices Count and the Northwest Specialist Nurses for Organ Donation to raise awareness of:

The importance of Advance Care Planning in helping children with life threatening and life shortening conditions receive the right care in the right place at the right time

and

The incredible difference Organ Donation can make

If you are a professional, parent or carer we would love to hear your story and your ideas for awareness raising as part of Dying Matters 2018

    Hi Lynda,
I will always tell our story. Nobody mentioned organ donation to us, in regards to our daughter Jenny. My husband and I were mistaken in thinking that her organs would be of no use, as her myelofibrosis had spread, and it was haematological. I have since been to a talk from the donor staff, and some of Jenny’s organs could have been used for donation. This I will always regret. It just needed for someone to have a chat with her, and us.
