Derian House Children’s Hospice
Derian House is a purpose built Hospice with a wide range of facilities able to facilitate the care of babies, children and young adults with a variety of complex needs including sensory room , ‘messy play’ room, multi-sensory rooms and hydrotherapy rooms. High quality care is delivered on a 1:1 basis by experienced Clinical Support workers and Registered Nurses (Children’s, Adults, Learning Disability and Mental Health). All care team staff are supported with additional training to ensure that they are able to care for children with very complex needs including invasive ventilation.
Service provision includes:
Care support: planned short break respite stays, physiotherapy, symptom management, end of life care
Community team: respite care at home, end of life care, symptom management. Provision of on-call service for support out of hours
Neonatal service: provides support with transition to hospice to home for neonates with complex needs and those requiring end of life care including support for parents following antenatal diagnosis.
Young adult team: support with emotional and well-being needs, transition to adult services including MCA advice
Well being services: complementary therapies, family support groups, playgroup, day care activities, music therapy, specialist play team, family holidays
Family Support team: pre and post bereavement support, social care advice and support, sibling support, counselling service.
